What would you like SADIA to do for you??

Please feel free to use this part of the forum for any ideas you may have . Everything will be considered by the committee.

Thought your posting was beginning to look a bit lonely Julie, so thought Id add a wee statement re my thoughts:

I guess my primary hope would be for SADIA to provide opportunities to discuss existing, new and proposed decisions regarding Road Safety, but more specifically with regard to the range of Driver Training, testing and education.... and then to encourage the development of its membership and their businesses.

A few things to bear in mind could be:

Be visible and available not just at 3 meetings and an AGM each year (I think the forum and facebook links go part way to offering this)
Consider ways in which the membership can be kept informed re changes to the world of Road Safety (Julie's emails go some way in providing this)
Organise informal group activities (the dinners are one way of doing this) ....... maybe a treasure hunt, a picnic, a competition?
Encourage the membership to think about what further training/development may be appropriate for them and the way they best learn!
Appreciate that the membership are individuals and will be looking for different things and that you will never please everyone all the time!

What does SADIA do for me?

SADIA is keeping me informed, Julies emails (A subsidary company of Julies Wheels TM) are great for this , as the FORUM can be.
It's giving me a network of other ADI's to discuss things with, FORUM again but also recognising people for a chat at the test centre.
I agree that 3 meetings and an AGM seems a little lite on membership participation so we need people to log in and express this.
It's giving me representation at the council offices, with the local DSA staff and also with other local ADI's

What would I like SADIA to do?
CPD is in our constitution, this is an area that we as a group can lead in. Perhaps we should disuss what froms of CPD are available and them find out how we can either provide it as a group, or get discouted training from a provider.
Could we arrange a trip to Hendon, Cardington or DVLA offices?
Could we arrange a chat with Roy Buchanan (Sutton road safety officer)
More days out as well as an evening get together?

What can I do for SADIA?
I specialise in teaching people with disabilities, as such I can advise any member on issues such as teaching people who are deaf, have Aspergers, CP, Autism, MS etc. Or the type of medical conditions that older drivers can have, that might affect their driving ability. I'm also a member of the commitee so if anyone has something they want to raise, I'll be happy to put it forward. I do give SADIA my time, at the moment I have alot of training commitments, both giving and receiving, hopefully after September I'll become a more effective commitee member.

I like the idea of meeting with the Sutton Road Safety man..... I think we could offer him a lot of help!!

Yep I agree with all you have said. They are all good ideas.

I dont think 3 meetings are enough either & contact with the members needs to be continual.

Thank you for appreciating my emails (lin you dont get that many anyway, coz you get them via other means) but on a personal note, I think on the whole my emails are greatfully accepted. But I do get some people who seem to 'maybe' get fed up with them... you send so many I dont get time to read them ... another email from Julie... etc..etc...

I could send out a lot more information but I have definately pulled back on it because of these repsonses. I sent an email reguarding the MDT report but even at the committee meeting only a couple of people had bothered to read it !!
It takes me time to send emails & if people dont bother to read them then why am i wasting my time....??? Its hard to get the balance right.

I also sent an email about the courses edriving do. Coaching etc seeing who was interested with the thought of booking a course for SADIA. I had one reply!!

As for the social side, yes again a good idea, but only the faithful seem to want to attend.

On a more positive note though after abit of a stiff email reguarding renewal including a cut off date. We now have 43 members who have renewed for the next year. So that is encouraging. Maybe I'll send out more emails now !!! x
