bounce bounce

Was discussing this point with another trainer recently, and just wondered what others do when approached for lessons by someone with an International Driving Permit...... How do you deal with this situation? Do you make any checks to ensure they haven't exceeded the 12 month period?

In my experience which is only one American. I asked him. He'd been here on & off for years... So therefore flouting the system. So what are we supposed to do about that? Too late & not our responsibilty IMO. At least by coming to us they are have decided to sort it out so not an issue anymore affraid

As you say Julie, many many flout the system. I ask the questions and explain the legalities if they are unsure. The biggest issue for me is that of valid insurance, or not!! Shocked

I'm pretty strong on this!! Old Bag syndrome!! Rolling Eyes ..... I wouldn't be able to recognise an IDP as an official document from the various authorities so, if the clients intention is to pass a UK driving test, I insist that they have a UK provisional licence and display L plates.

Yes mine had a provisional licence already so I didn't have that problem, & yes as you say I'm sure insurance is an issue in some cases. My chap took his test in a hire car. Told him about some company's not covering for a test but he sorted it out. Apart from explaining the problems ey could encounter I'm not sure what else we should do Exclamation Question
